Will My Insurance Pay for My Girlfriend’s Abortion?
Unless your legal family members have been added to your plan, your insurance will only cover health services related to your health. If you and your partner are not legally married and she has not been added to your insurance plan, she will not be covered for any medical services, including abortion.
Additionally, Georgia law restricts public dollars from being used for abortion except in cases of life endangerment, rape, or incest. Because of this, if your girlfriend is covered under a state-funded insurance plan, she will likely not receive coverage for abortion.
How Much Does Abortion Cost?
Because the out-of-pocket cost of an abortion varies depending on the gestational age of your pregnancy and other health conditions, it is difficult to determine the cost of the procedure.
Those within the first 10 weeks of pregnancy may be eligible for the abortion pill, which costs, on average, $500, and those seeking surgical abortion procedures may pay anywhere from $500 to $3,000 or more.
