If your partner is abusive, you do not need to stay with them. We understand how scary it is to think about causing any conflict or disruptions when things could seem mostly calm.
However, you owe it to yourself to find safety and refuge away from your abusive partner. Reach out to the National Domestic Violence Hotline if you’re in an abusive situation. If you’re in immediate danger, dial 911.

Here’s the Truth: You Can Do Better
When in an abusive relationship, you might feel dependent on your partner. Maybe he makes most of the income or benefits, and it seems like you need him to survive.
You may also love him when he has good days, and that’s what you hold onto during his bad, abusive days.
Regardless of why you’re staying, you can do better. It might feel like you need him now, but you deserve to be treated with love and respect. No partner should ever raise a hand to you or abuse you emotionally.
Make an Exit Strategy
You do not need to tell your partner you are pregnant if you are in an abusive relationship to stay safe. Instead, consider your exit plan. If you live with your partner, do you have a family member or friend you trust who would be willing to let you stay with them?
Pack a bag with necessities and be discreet. You can ask a police escort to help you retrieve all your other belongings after you are in a safe place.
The National Domestic Violence Hotline can help with this part.
